Hoosier OTS Sport Mask - Cleaning Question

Question

Clyde,

We received our daughters face mask today and got her back out on the court tonight. Couldn't be happier!

What do you recommend in terms of keeping the mask clean...the pads are loaded with sweat and we'd like to keep the mask clean since she will be needing it for a while?

Thanks - Lisa

Answer

Hi Lisa,

Glad the Hoosier OTS mask helped get your daughter back on the court!.

Cleaning?  Warm soap and water will do it. The stand-off pads inside the mask are made of surgical wool felt and will dry quickly.

WHY WOOL FELT? Wool felt retains its shape, wicks moisture, provides comfort and support without injuring the applied skin surface.

Question - Hoosier Clyde's OTS Broken Nose Facemask to Phillipines

to me

Contact Name: Andre C. Phone: 8XXXX24 Email Address: andrexxxxxxxx@gmail.com Comments or Questions: Good day to you sir/maam, I am Andre C. from the Philippines. I broke my nose and had surgery 3 months ago. I want to play basketball again but wouldn't even dare try playing without any protective gear for my face. I don't want to go through post surgery hell again. I would like to ask how long does it take to be delivered here in my country. Will it be delivered here on my doorstep? Is this mask sufficient enough for me to consider this rather than just get a custom fit mask made from a cast of my face? I am really considering this product but I'm afraid that if I order this. It might not fit my face. Hoping for your Quick Response. Thank you, - Andre Calixto

How to Get Used to Wearing Basketball Nose Guards

Print

May 26, 2011 | By Timothy Onkst

Basketball is seen as a safer sport than boxing, football or wrestling. In reality, basketball is very much a contact sport, and injuries can often occur from bodies colliding or elbows flying. Basketball players who get hit in the face with an elbow or knee can often end up with a broken nose or damaged eye. Players want to return to the game as soon as possible, but to guard the nose and face, they must often get used to wearing a protective mask.

Step 1

Practice with the mask or nose guard. Practicing while wearing the device enables you to see what restrictions the mask might force on you, such as cutting down vision or hampering breathing. In addition, practice will get you used to shooting, dribbling and seeing the court with the protective gear on.

Step 2

Remove the mask and wipe it clean during breaks in play. Cleaning the mask will help prevent it from getting too hot or heavy from perspiration and give your face time to breath. Pulling the mask up or off while you shoot free throws will enable you to safely shoot your regular shot.

Step 3

Adjust the straps on the mask appropriately. Masks come with straps to loosen or tighten them. A mask that is bothering you will be something you think about, which could hamper your play.

Tips and Warnings

• Measure your face and order a custom-made face mask or nose guard so that it will fit more comfortably and you will get used to it faster. According to Indiana Brace Store, measuring across the face from the inside of one ear to another and from the top of the forehead to the tip of the nose can help you find and size the proper mask.

"Man, I gotta see the ball! "Hoosier OTS Face Mask to James in Cottonvale, AL

Got a call yesterday from James in Cottonvale, AL asking about my Hoosier OTS semi-custom face mask. Here is how that conversation went:

James: "Hey are you the guy that makes those Hoosier face masks for broken noses."

Clyde: "Yes I am."I answered

James: " Well lookie here - I tried on of those  $35 models, broke my nose couple of weeks ago in a basketball game, and Clyde it was real uncomfortable to wear.  The biggest problem with it though was I could not see very well."

"Does yours not restrict vision as much? Man I gotta see the ball!"

Clyde: "Yeah the vision thing happens some with those cruciform designs. The Hoosier OTS will not restrict your vision and will be more comfortable for you to wear playing basketball."

James:"OK then. I want to order one of yours."
