Flat Cookie Cutter Carbon Fiber Plate Insert Made My Foot Numb!

1/20/17

Hello Clyde - I just got diagnosed with hallux limitus, so I'm trying to figure all this stuff out. We are heading to Disneyworld at the end of Feb, so I hope your RTL inserts will help. I tried the flat carbon insert and it made the bottom of my foot feel numb even though it was on top of another insole. Aimee/ San Francisco

Hi Aimee - Flat, rigid and cookie cutter carbon fiber plates are great for pediatric toe walkers. Not very good for adults - too thick, rigid, and restrictive. A flat carbon fiber plate makes the entire shoe stiff creating an awkward and unnatural gait for the user.
Custom made X1 Blades are thin & light, strategically padded and biomechanically strengthened and shaped. An X1 Blade will relieve your pain while walking without affecting your natural stride, and it will not make your foot numb! You shouldn't even know it is in your shoe.

Carbon Fiber Plate "Limits Her Dancing" - John / X1 Blade Runner is the Answer

Contact Us Submitted
Contact Name: John
Phone: 618-XXX-XXXX
Email Address: John2045@XXXXX.com
Comments or Questions: Clyde, my wife is a competitive ballroom dancer.  She recently has been having pain in her big right toe.  She feels this has been coming on for about three years but has only become unbearable within this last year.  Xrays showed no fractures or spurs but her doctor did say it showed arthritis.  Her nephew, a PT, prescribed a rigid carbon plate from Wrymark in St. Louis.  This has been working fairly well, but limits some of her activity with dancing.  I find your products intriguing and wonder which models you would recommend.  As I understand it, the product is fully refundable less shipping if it doesn't work when trying on "in the house".  Am I correct on this?  In addition, do your inserts require the use of another insole on top of the plate?  If so, are there some you recommend that take up very little room?  Thank you, John

Hi John - Most of my dancers get the Runner model and it fits under the shoes insole. The Wrymark carbon fiber plate , like all carbon fiber plates, makes the entire shoe rigid and limits normal foot motion.  Rigid carbon fiber plates are great for getting pediatric toe walkers into a more natural gait, but too limiting for high activity users as your wife has found.
My X1 Blade "stiff-flex design" is only rigid where it needs to be rigid - under a users great toe thus enabling normal foot and ankle motion during activity.  My X1 Blade has a 100% money back guarantee. Thanks for asking. Clyde

Rigid Morton's Extension Insert Too Bulky & Thick for Most Shoes - C.C.

Typical Flat, Bulky and Thick Morton's Extension Insert
History of your injury? : Bilateral bunions with Osteoarthritis in mtp joint. Though the bunion is worse on the other foot, I get a Morton's Neuroma type of pain on top of right foot at base of 2nd or 3rd toe or in space between (or possibly synovitis or plantar tear or multiple things going on). I already have full orthotics with rigid Mortons Extension as well Mortons pad under metatarsals and it relieves all pain but is too bulky/ thick for most shoes, therefore want blades as well for other shoes. We talked on phone from Australia and you said you might do the regular X1 and a different one for me to try. Shoe size mostly US9M/ US10W. Length (insole) ranges from 257mmX85mm to 268mmX97mm. I think Blades should be towards the smaller size as these are the shoes with least support that I currently can't wear for long. The bigger shoes are hiking/ walking boots. I also have 3/4 orthotics that I would like to be able to wear over the top of the Blades for a leg length discrepancy, so definitely don't want a heel in blades. My email is cate26xx@--------- if you need to ask anything. Thank you!

Carbon Fiber Plates - Too Rigid for Running / X1 Blades Extremely Helpful

Hello,

I had surgery in January 2009 to remove a bone spur on my left big toe. The doc said that this type of injury can stem from turf toe. I had turf toe in high school (10 years ago) and never got it treated. I began running longer distances (1 marathon, 2 halfs, 3rd in november) 2.5 years ago and started having issues last year with pain. I have the beginning of arthritis in the big toe joint.I was contemplating a joint replacement but felt that this was too much too soon and just opted for the bone spur removal. I wasn’t convinced that was going to work and felt it might prevent me even more from running. It took a while for me to get back into it as I didn’t fully recover from the surgery for at least 3-4 months (doc said 1-2). He gave me a carbon fiber plate to put in my shoe but it definitely was not good for running as it stiffened the entire shoe and made running uncomfortable.
Typical Carbon Fiber Plate - Too Rigid for Athletics

Luckily I found a different plate that is more flexible throughout but still stiff where you need it (beneath the big toe). It is called the X1-Blade made by indiana brace (http://02b20d1.netsolstores.com/X1BladeforTurfToePain.aspx) for help with turf toe. I found this extremely helpful in getting back into running. I read testimonials and talked to the guy who makes them. I recommend this before any other surgery and wish I knew about this 10 years ago.
 Best of luck,
Mike, 28
