HISTORY: "I will be using the X1 Blade for running. I have hallux limitus that will flare up and cause swelling on top of my joint when running. I run 20-25 miles a week (trail and pavement) I also over pronate on the same foot. I also live in Virginia so it is hard to not run hilly. X1 Blade Gives Immediate Relief to Runner

Hi Clyde,

  Been suffering through hallux limitus for about a year now and picked up an X1 Blade from you a few months ago.  I got the "runner" version which works great and provided immediately relief for runs up to about 15 miles, but I would start to feel joint pain on runs longer than that, so I found I also needed to cut out the great toe section of my shoe's insert to add to the depth of the depression for my big toe to make running pain free.  Thinking about ordering the "pro" version and was just wondering how much deeper the depression is on that vs. the runner version in hopes I wouldn't have to cut into my insert if I got that one.

1. I'm a bit confused - I have somewhat limited range of motion and pain in right big toe (hallus limitus?), but your "runner" appears to handle rigidus and turf toe (for golf) while the model for limitus is MORE expensive for a less severe condition? 

 

2. Does it make sense to have the Blades in both right and left, although I haven't developed the issue with my left hallux?

Thanks for the questions.

The X1 Blade RTL model was made for people who have hallux rigidus or limitus with bone spurs.

There X1 Blade is so thin that there is no need for two - just one - for the affected great toe. I have had a few serious runners who order a pair because of a gait issue vs. balance.
