Gary Reviews X1 Blade for His Hallux Liimitus
Hi Clyde,
I have been using the X1 RTL Blade about two and one half weeks for the treatment of
Hallux limitus in my right foot, and as of now I can take my
shoe off and on without any pain.

Per your instruction I'll use the blade for another three and one half weeks for a total of six weeks.
Hopefully, at that time I can start running again. When I do start running I'll probably get another blade that will be dedicated to my running shoes. Question to you--Should my running blade have more reinforcement under the affected toe?
Thanks for the great product and your professional advice.
From a very active 73 year old---Runner and Biker Gary Z.----Minnesota
Gary,
Great to hear you are getting relief from your X1 Blade.
My advice would be to stick with the RTL X1 Blade when you get back into running.

Do I Need Two X1 Blades for Balance?
Contact Name: George
Phone: (913) XXX-XXXX
Email Address: geo_xxxx@yahoo.com
Comments or Questions:
1. I'm a bit confused - I have somewhat limited
range of motion and pain in right big toe (hallus limitus?), but your
"runner" appears to handle rigidus and turf toe (for golf) while the
model for limitus is MORE expensive for a less severe condition?
2. Does it make sense to have the Blades in both right and left,
although I haven't developed the issue with my left hallux?
Hello George -
Thanks for the questions.
The X1 Blade RTL model was made for people who have hallux rigidus or limitus with bone spurs.
There
X1 Blade is so thin that there is no need for two - just one - for the
affected great toe. I have had a few serious runners who order a pair
because of a gait issue vs. balance. Thanks for the questions.

Trying to Avoid Great Toe Surgery - Australia
Contact Name: Meredith Cxxxxxx

Comments or Questions: Hi
I am from Australia and am thinking about ordering your product for
hallux limitus. I just want to check with you before ordering to make
sure doing so would be worthwhile. I have been having considerable
issues with my right toe for about a year now. I have been to a
podiatrist who has made me orthotic inserts for my shoes but have had
little benefit from them. I have been told the next step is surgery
which I am understandably not keen on. I have also had considerable
problems with plantar facitis in both feet since the toe pain started
which I suspect is related to the toe problem because of subtle changes
in my gait. I currently wear a womens US 10 b fitting in the BRooks
Addiction 10 model running shoe. I don't run, these are just for daily
wear, walking and to wear to the gym. This brooks shoe is the only shoe
that appears to fit my skinny foot that provides the support I need. I
was told to go for a shoe like this because I have a high arch and need
a shoe to guard against pronation. I guess what I really want to know
is how your orthotic would differ from my current one and whether you
think ordering to try it is worthwhile. Thanks Meredith
Dear Meredith - I woud suggest you try my Reverse Morton's style. It should help relieve the hallux limitus pain and help you avoid having surgery for right now. Clyde

Hallux Limitus Great Right Toe - Product Selection

Dear Dr. Peach:
I have hallux limitus on right great toe - early stage arthritis and have a bone spur on the top
of the second met on the same foot. I experience discomfort in big toe joint - looks like
beginning of bunion. The bone spur on the top of the second met (podiatrist said I must
have injured it at some point) causes pain and discomfort when toes are flexed upward, during
running, push ups, etc.
X-rays showed only slight beginning of early stage arthritis on left big toe. No bone spurs, etc.
I am 56, 5'8" and 155 lbs. Until recently, was running 5-7 miles a day. Now, due to
foot/toe limitations, I am doing plyometrics, cardio programs 40 minutes a day on soft
surfaces and in heavily cushioned, stiff shoes.
Which product should I consider for conditions in right foot? Would like to get
back to running, if possible.
Thanks
Alex
I would try the Reverse Morton X1 Blade Alex - Clyde

Clyde's X1 Blade - Great Toe Pain Gone!
Clyde,
Here are the comments we discussed.
I recently ran the Chicago Marathon and my Hallux Limitus pain (big toe joint pain) was worse than ever. When it was time to get back to running the pain was still there and I could not go more than a couple miles without enduring a lot of pain.
I stumbled across your insert on the internet and ordered one for the left foot (the worse of the two). I received the insert promptly and was anxious to try it out.
I ran 8 miles with it today and have NO TOE PAIN!!!
I am huge believer in your product and am ordering one for the right foot as well. It is worth every penny. I was worried that I was going to not be able to run anymore.
Thank you for making this amazing product.
Sincerely, Jason

X1 Blades Take Up Less Room in a Shoe
Question - Tue, Aug 7, 2012 at 6:56 AM, <3174451475@mms.att.net> wrote:
Contact Name: Phil G. Phone: 210 XXX 4841 Email Address: 86XXXXXX@gmail.com Comments or Questions: i have hallux limitus. I use stiff carbon inserts under my running shoe insoles that work pretty well but they take up too much space in my dress shoes that I wear every day, plus, they require an insole to cover them up which uses more space. Do your X1's require an insole to cover them? Do you find that they require a larger shoe size to avoid painful pressure on the toe joint?Answer from Clyde
Dear Mr. Green -The X1 Blades are less stiff and very thin requiring much less space in a shoe than do regular carbon fiber plates. You can walk directly on the top of the X1 Blades without top cover for normal walking, because of the Blades smooth upper surface. Depending on the shoes upper depth and last it is not normally necessary to move into a larger shoe size to accommodate an X1 Blade. Thank for your question. Clyde
