Jone's Fracture X1 Blade - Healed - Alleviate Pain
Hello Clyde, I am a very active 33 year old male. In the past 3 years I have
experienced a Jones Fracture in both feet. My left 3 years ago, which
seems to have healed finally after a few re-breaks. More recently I
broke the right in the exact same place. I have been looking for some
sort of brace or orthotic for a couple years now to help prevent further
injury or alleviate some of the pain from the current injury. I came
across your blade orthotic, is this something you would suggest for me?
Something I can put inside my shoes while I play sports(basketball,
baseball, football) that will help me?
Thank you for your time. Brandon
Hi Brandon -
Try my X1 Blade® for 5th metatarsal fractures - a treatment option for 5th metatarsal fractures (jones fracture) and post-op rehab.
How does the x5 blade work? By loading the body and head of the 5th metatarsal on a more rigid but dynamic step (x5 blade®) this slight elevation unloads the base and tuberosity of the 5th metatarsal without restricting the entire foot. The X5 Blade is a great orthotic as a transition into an athletic shoe from a walking boot or shoe.

X1 Blade for Jones Fracture Treatment
X1 Blade for the Treatment of Healing Jones Fracture (5th metatarsal fracture)
I had a call from a physical therapist in Baltimore for a consult about an athlete he was treating who was recovering from a Jones fracture. The athlete was just coming out of a boot and the orthopaedic surgeon wanted a rigid orthotic for the athlete to wear during football. He stated that he had been researching online the different insert options and thought that the X1 Blade design for 5th metatarsal fractures made more sense because it would be less restrictive for the athlete than a spring steel or carbon fiber plate. He asked me how the X1 Blade worked and if I had success treating these healing fractures?
I said yes I had success using these designs and had created them for basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball athletes.
I explained how it worked. That by adding a thin (.060") X1 Blade under the shaft of the 5th met and ending it just distal to the base of the 5th metatarsal it unloaded the healing fracture site and the athlete was more comfortable during competition.

X1 Blade for 5th Metatarsal Fx - Offensive Lineman
I received a call this morning from an orthopaedic surgeons physicians assistant from Central Indiana Orthopaedic (CIO) in Muncie. The call concerned a Ball state offensive lineman who had sustained a 5th metatarsal fracture (Jones fracture) during the early summer.
The PA explained that the player had had the fracture pinned by a orthopaedic surgeon from his home town, but the fixation had failed, but the fracture was healing and his orthopaedic surgeon didn't want to repin it.
He said, "we understand that you make a special insert that will unload and protect the players fracture site during practice and during games while the fracture heals."
I said that I did, and that it was my X1 Blade for 5th metatarsal fractures.
He asked me if I would contact the players athletic trainer at Ball State and arrange to get an X1 Blade for the player's healing 5th metatarsal fracture. I said that I would.
I contacted the Ball State head athletic trainer. The athletic trainer went to my website www.indianabrace.com and clicked on Clyde's X1 Blades by Injury that led him to the 5th metatarsal fracture while we spoke. After he familiarized himself with my X1 Blade for 5th metatarsal fracture he ordered the Blade for his player.
I shipped a size 14 X1 Blade for 5th metatarsal fractures (Jones fx).
