Scott from Sweet Grass, MT - Lisfranc Injury Orders X1 Blade Shoe Stiffner
![]() |
| X1 Blade Shoe Stiffners |
A Lisfranc (midfoot) injury occurs when bones in the midfoot that form the arch on top of the foot are broken or torn by either a low-energy injury (football, soccer, or stumbles over a flexed foot) or high-energy (trauma or fall fro a height).
This midfoot joint complex so important in walking is called the Lisfranc joint. The Lisfranc joint was named after Jaques Lisfranc de St. Martin. He was French surgeon and gynecologist who served in the Napoleonic army in the 1800s. Dr. Lisfranc pioneered many types of original surgical
If there are no fractures or dislocations in the joint and the ligaments are not completely torn, a strict nonsurgical treatment may include non-weightbearing casts for a period of time. After that progresses to weightbearing in a removable walker boot or an orthotic like X1 Blade Shoe Stiffner - "medium sping".
Recovery may vary even tho the surgical or nonsurgical treatment was excellent. Arthritis may occur because of damage done to the cartilage during the injury and cause chronic pain. This may require fusion in the future.
An X1 Blade Shoe Stiffner - "rigid" could help relieve the chronic arthritic pain by immobilizing the Lisfranc joint externally (in shoe). Thus delaying a possible surgical procedure.

"Your My Last Chance"
X1 Blade shoe stiffner "stiff model" to
Oxford, MS user who suffers with severe hallux rigidus, and is an avid
tennis player who plays 3 to 4 times weekly.
"Your my last chance." he said over the phone yesterday."The podiatrist I went to wanted to do an implant. The orthopaedic surgeon I went to wanted to do a fusion, and said implants were a podiatrist thing. I'm confused and don't want to do either!"
I suggested that his best mechanical chance for relief from me was to order the "Stiff" X1 Blade shoe stiffner as it would simulate a fusion and may buy him some time.

Contact Name: Fiona Phone: 0208 xxx xxxx Email Address: hot.txxxxx.xxxx@hotmail.co.uk Comments or Questions: Hi there, I believe when I fell very badly, almost a year ago now, that I broke my 2nd toe of my left foot. It has slowly become more and more crooked/deformed. It started with the first joint becoming rigid. Now the 2nd joint is causing my toe to be almost bent in half! I cannot wear ANYTHING apart from a 2year old pair of soft, leather pumps. I had Morton's Neuroma operated on in 2008. I used to be a ballet dancer & was fit as a fiddle. Obviously, I couldn't exercise during the many years of pain, prior to my neurectomy. Now, I can get about, using my car, sadly, I can't walk at the speed I would like to; sometimes I have pain on walking [due to my ? badly broken toe]. I'd like to go the gym; if only to do half hour on the rowing machine [less impact on the feet]. I'm not sure if I should go to the gym, as I don't want to aggravate my toe. My first ortho. appt. is not till August [NHS!] but I'm seeking a private opinion, sooner. Would any of your insoles be of benefit to me? In winter boots, I still wear [and still need] the hospital-prescribed insoles, post-Morton's Neuroma excision. Thank you. I'm rather excited, as the testimonials I've read are very encouraging! I want to get back to the way I was, before the fall. I'm a Registered Nurse, working in several schools, so need to be very mobile. Regards, F. ------------- Clyde's response - I suggest an X1 Blade medium shoe stiffner with a pair of New Balance MW 928's.

NEW! Clyde's X1 Blade with Reverse Morton's Extension
Functional hallux limitus, rigidly plantar flexed 1st ray, and sesamoiditis can be treated with the new X1 Blade with a reverse Morton's extension modification. The reverse Morton's extension is an area of relief in the X1 Blade that reduces the jamming effect produced by Functional Hallux Limitus. The X1 Blade with Morton's extension is super thin (.04" thick) and super light (.4 oz) and works by off-loading the 1st ray. The X1 Blade also adds a bit of energy at toe off to improve the users overall gait and reduce pain. Due to the fact the X1 Blade is so thin it is only necessay to purchase one and place it under the in-sole of any average shoe.

Clyde's AcuStep Foot Orthotics
During my 35 years of experience as an ABC Certified Orthotist I have utilized many different techniqiues to fabricate custom orthotics for my clients. It was at times difficult to relieve my clients foot discomfort using the established foot-shape method. That all changed for me in 2001 by using a totally new approach, by disregarding foot shape and concentrating on in-shoe pressures using the amazing AcuStep system.
Why the AcuStep is different...
Traditional foot orthotics are fabricated based on the foot shape to either functionally support the flexible foot using a piece of hard molded plastic or accommodate the rigid foot using a cushion. In both instances there is inadequate peak pressure redistribution which is the principal cause of foot pain. AcuStep realized that building an orthotic based on "foot shape" was not adequate. Instead, AcuStep decided to take foot orthotic fabrication to the next level by using a totally new approach. By using a patented in-shoe system to measure peak pressures while walking or running, an orthotic can be milled that more precisely redistributes peak pressures while at the same time providing proper foot support. Since pain follows excessive pressure, this is the most effective way to acheive foot comfort and optimal performance.

PFS - Plantar Fasciitis Strap
Great interim product before delivery of custom orthotic. The PFS elastic arch strap maintains a continuous elastic tension on the painful plantar fasciia. I like it better than taping for mild to moderate plantar fasciitis, and it can be worn at night vs. a clunky night splint.
